In the first half of 2024, Søby Shipyard has been very busy with a variety of customers, both new and returning, and various projects. Below are some of the latest updates.

New Employees

Laura Marie Gadegaard Thuesen – Laura was hired on June 1, 2024, as an assistant project manager. She will assist our project manager with various projects, helping our customers receive better documentation and experience optimized processes.

Petri Oranen – Petri will be our new foreman in the steel department starting June 1, 2024. He will play a crucial role in ensuring that our steel tasks are performed to the yard's high standards.

Silas Olsen – Silas started as an apprentice in our machinery department on June 24, 2024.

Christian Bergel – Christian will be a new machinist in our machinery department starting July 1, 2024.

Another New Crane

The yard has acquired another new crane. This time, it replaces the 10-year-old Sennebogen 613M (16 tons) with a new and much larger Sennebogen 643M (40 tons).

Family Event

On Friday, June 21, 2024, the yard opened its doors for families of the yard’s employees to visit and see the yard. It was a very pleasant day where various equipment was viewed and tested while enjoying lots of cake and slush ice.

Reception

On Friday, June 28, 2024, a reception will be held for three of the yard’s employees who are retiring within a short period. The individuals are:

Jan Dalhuysen – retiring with his last day on August 2, 2024.

Kjeld Peder Henriksen – retiring with his last day on July 5, 2024.

Charlotte Maria Aabye – retiring with her last day on July 31, 2024.

Additionally, Roar Thomasen, the former sales manager at the yard, retired on May 24, 2024, after working for the yard for more than 32 years.

Docking of a Tanker

During May, the yard had the pleasure of assisting Christiania Shipping with their tanker “Susanne Theresa”, which required various docking tasks. The yard’s skilled drone pilot was in the air multiple times from start to finish, resulting in a beautiful video. This video can be viewed here
